Meet the Doctors:
Dr. Steven M. Dater
A Michigan native, Dr. Dater has more than 15 years experience in organized dentistry. During that time, he has been an active member of the Michigan Dental Association Board of Trustees, serving as the group's Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee. He is currently President-Elect of the Michigan Dental Association.
A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Dr. Dater has served as a delegate to the American Dental Association from 2000 to the present. He also served as Chairperson of the state Association's Special Committee on the Young Dentist.
Dr. Dater is a director of the West Michigan District Dental Society where he has served on the committees on Dental Health Education, Dental Education, Adult Dental Services and Membership. He is also former chair of the Young Dentist Forum.
Dr. Dater also served as chair of the Dental Advisory Committee at Grand Rapids Community College and was a member of the Adjunct Faculty in the schools' dental program. He is a member of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists and was the recipient of the Michigan Dental Association's Young Dentist Leadership Award in 2000.
Dr. Dater is also a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce and Business Network International. A volunteer community basketball coach, he and his wife, Mary, are also active in the lives of their three children, Stephanie, Scott and Samuel. His hobbies include bow hunting, golf, traveling with the family and outdoor activities.
Dr. Heather Cadorette
A native of Rockford, Dr. Heather Cadorette completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan state University before obtaining her dentistry degree in May 1999 from the University of Michigan Dental School.
While in dental school, Dr. Cadorette performed dental services on a Navajo Reservation and received a clinical excellence award for well-rounded comprehensive care. Her early professional experience was with a dental practice in northeast Grand Rapids.
She was Chairperson of the New Dentist Committee of the West Michigan District Dental Society from 2002 to 2004 and has served as a delegate for WMDDS since 2005. She is a member of the society's Children's Dental Health Committee which focuses on improving dental care for youth in the area. She is also a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Cadorette is married and has two children, Masyn and Kade. Her husband, Rick, is a teacher at Rockford High School. In her time off, she enjoys activities with her family and spends time swimming, hiking, cycling and enjoying other outdoor sports.
